Project Forward stands as a nationally esteemed program dedicated to providing vocational training for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This initiative has earned distinction as the first program in Massachusetts to be granted Comprehensive Transition Program status by the US Department of Education. This recognition empowers our students to access financial aid, marking a significant stride towards an inclusive higher education experience.

Based on the campus of Cape Cod Community College in West Barnstable, MA, Project Forward has earned national acclaim for its role as a school-to-work model for students with intellectual disabilities since 1988. Recognized by both the United States Department of Education and The School-to-Work Outreach Project, Project Forward has garnered well-deserved attention for its innovative approach.

Navigating Tuition and Financial Assistance

Understanding tuition and financial arrangements is vital to your Project Forward journey. Let's navigate through the details:

Tuition and Fees Overview: 2024-2025

  • Core Classes, Seminar, and Electives: $2,860/semester
  • Application Fee, Technology Fee, Activities Fee, Materials/Books, Graduation Fees, and Transportation to Job Sites and Field Trips: $350/semester
  • Internship Fee/Second Year ONLY: Job placement, Job Coaching, Evaluation, and Virtual Job Exploration: $300/semester

Total Costs per Semester:

  • First Year: $3,210/semester
  • Second Year: $3,510/semester

Mainstream college courses can be taken or audited for an additional cost. Please click here for details. 

Tuition Refunds and Financial Aid:

Students withdrawing for medical or non-medical reasons may be eligible for tuition and fee refunds. Financial aid disbursement aligns with enrollment duration, potentially impacting available funds. Students must engage with Project Forward, the Registrar, and the Business Office when withdrawing. 

Project Forward Medical Withdrawal Policy:

A Medical Withdrawal is available for students facing documented medical issues. A Medical Withdrawal Form accompanied by authentic documentation signed by a medical or clinical professional is required. This confidential documentation assists in facilitating the process.

Financial Aid Accessibility:

Thanks to the Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP) designation, eligible Project Forward students can access Federal Pell Grant dollars through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process. Two Tracks Towards Success

Project Forward offers two distinctive tracks, each designed to cater to individual aspirations and commitment levels. One of these tracks, the Comprehensive Transition Program track (CTP), provides students the opportunity to apply for Financial Aid while embracing the inclusive program requirements. Explore these tracks to find the best fit for your journey toward success.

FIRST YEAR CTP TRACK

Financial Aid Available

To earn a CTP certificate with Project Forward, students will spend an average of 20 hours per week on campus. The time will be spent attending Project Forward core Curriculum Classes, taking classes for credit/audit, gaining hands on work experience through job shadowing, receiving academic tutoring, and mentoring support, using the college facilities such as gym, Library & Tutoring Center, joining clubs and socializing with peers.

Exploratory Classes:  

Students rotate through these classes approximately every five weeks during both semesters.

  1. Introduction to Agriculture & Facilities Management​
  2. Introduction to Childcare​
  3. Introduction to Healthcare Assistant​
  4. Introduction to Hospitality & Culinary Arts​
  5. Introduction to Mass Communications & Broadcasting​
  6. Introduction to Retail Operations Management​

First Year SeminarClass

Inclusion Piece: ​Every semester student must choose either A, B, C

Student must be enrolled in one of the following

  1. Audit Course​
  2. Credit Course​
  3. Non-Credit Course –​ Student will also accrue hours/credits in the:
  • B. Peer Mentor Experience​
  • Vocational Job Shadow

SECOND YEAR CTP TRACK

Financial Aid Available

To earn a CTP certificate with Project Forward, students will spend an average of 20 hours per week on campus. The time will be spent attending their chosen concentration course of study Project Forward core Curriculum Classes, taking classes for credit/audit, gaining hands on work experience through an Internship, receiving academic tutoring, and mentoring support, using the college facilities such as gym, Library & Tutoring Center, joining clubs and socializing with peers.

Inclusion Piece: ​In concentration year, student must commit to their assigned vocational internship (C). If their schedule permits, they are also  free to add A & B components.

  • B. Peer Mentor Experience​
  • Vocational Job Internship 50 hours

FIRST YEAR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Financial Aid NOT Available

To earn a Project Forward Certificate of Completion, students will spend a minimum of 7.5 hours a week on campus.  If a student would like to take Project Forward supplemental classes, join clubs or spend time utilizing the campus facilities they are welcome to, but it is not required.

Exploratory Classes:  

Students rotate through these classes approximately every five weeks during both semesters.
